The pre-school has been running from St. Andrews Pre-school for over 40 years. I have been managing the pre-school for the past 13 years and have seen many changes, developments and growth.
We run under the church’s charity number and is run by a management committee which is made up of parent/careers of children who attend the pre-school and lay members.
We have a dedicated team of seven childcare practitioners, holding relevant childcare qualifications and some with higher status. We care for a wide diverse and multi faith community for children and their families from 2-5 years of age. We are open term time and provide morning and afternoon sessions as well as a lunch club and extended care.
We are registered with Ofsted and our last inspection was in December 2008 was judged to be “GOOD”. We follow an early year’s curriculum “Early Years Foundation Stage” for Birth to 5 years. The pre-school also takes part in an accreditation scheme “Quilt” Quality Improvement for Learning and Teaching where we show that we provide care and education above and beyond the expectations of Ofsted requirements.
All children have a keyworker to support the child’s development and the family. The setting provides a wide range of activities which caters for the children’s individual needs enabling their development to flourish. We provide a home reading scheme where children can take home books for parents/carers to share with their children. The pre-school also runs a speech and language group during our sessions and is part of the government’s initiative Every child a Talker (ECAT).
