ST ANDREWS WALTHAMSTOW

One Lord, One Faith, One God

BAPTISTRY

We are lucky enough to have our own baptistry at St Andrew's.
It isn't used often, but it's a great day when it is!

A person comes to Believers Baptism as part of their Christian journey and after much thought, prayer and ministerial guidance.
It takes many hours to fill and heat the pool - we try to ensure the comfort of our Baptismal Candidates, as well as that of our ministers!
Our own Deacon, Loretta, was baptised at St Andrew's:

The design of the Baptistry handrail  incorporates the traditional Christian fish shape, containing the name Jesus, two scallop shells representing pilgrimage and baptism and the suns rays signifying the glory of God.  Also included are the logos of both the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Church of England, once more emphasizing our ecumenical commitment.  The cross of St. Andrew is depicted on the gate.

The work was funded from a legacy left to the church by Emily Law and is dedicated to her memory.  It was designed by George Papworth and made and fitted by New Age Fabrications Ltd of Romford.
